A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Per pale Azure and Argent, in fess a fleur-de-lis of the last and a buffalo statant within an annulet Sable. Attached below and to the sides of the shield a Silver scroll inscribed ATTACK in Blue letters.
The colors are blue (Azure) and white (Argent) for Infantry. The charges on the divided shield indicate the war services of the consolidated units, World War I service by the fleur-de-lis and World War II service by the buffalo within the ring adapted from the 92d Division shoulder sleeve insignia.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 3 March 1950.
